I’m a bit late with this update: Alfa Cowl is my take on a simple diagonally-knit kerchief-style neckwarmer concept. It’s not very diagonally knit. It’s a little bit diagonally knit, though.

New cowl.
A new cowl pattern! The Emerger .PDF makes the cowl shown in two different sizes, in one or two skeins of fingering-weight yarn. (Most fancy yarns come in 350+ skeins, so two skeins will be plenty. With the sock yarn shown, two skeins is enough to make both sizes—one each.)

It’s got a little in common with Manta, in that it uses a similar exploded-shape concept (Manta is a kind of broken square; this is a kind of wrecked rectangle, I guess). The slightly weird shape lends itself well to wearing; there are a couple of ways to style it that I’ve found so far, just trying to get photos of the finished shawl.
I worked a second test/sample in worsted-weight cotton blend, and while my final gauge is to be determined, my yardage was very different—a little over 500 yards rather than just under 455–so if you’re going to play yarn chicken, be careful. Maybe yarn chicken is not advised at all for this; I am not sure.
Coming soon! This shawl is an expansion of the Dog Days 8 pattern—essentially, I was working up a second sample, but I had ~500 yards of worsted-ish yarn, and wanted to keep going. This is a cotton blend (it’s Caron Cotton Cakes or something else big-box; it’s surprisingly enjoyable to knit with), and seems like it would be good used for post-swim pullover sweaters and wraps. It has almost a chamois-like texture, though I’m sure it won’t behave the same way.
Anyway, a main redeeming feature of this design is that it looks pretty nice on the back; it’s essentially reversible, though not identical on either side. I almost prefer the back of the second lace motif.
Dog Days 8.
I still need to add this one to the overall Dog Days portfolio (done), but there is a new mini-project in the series. It’s kerchief-sized, and I really like the textured lace in this one.
North Platte Cowl.
North Fork Variation.
North Fork Variation is a knit-at-any-gauge, knit-to-any-size-within-reason (or not) shawl. The .PDF should go live tomorrow, barring any disasters with the editing.

Day ??? for me—but a good square, with some handspun merino/grey alpaca/sari silk, Malabrigo Yarn Rastita in Glitter, and Arroyo in some sort of blue. Liner Notes 1 & 2.
Liner Notes 1 is a hat—reversible, with a double knit fabric that isn’t double knit (technically). Knit it in a plain MC and a single CC (my contrast skein was a self-striping sock yarn), or use soft sock-weight scraps for something more unique.
The sample shown is knit watchcap-style—it’s just the right length to cover an average adult wearer’s ears—but there’s no reason why you couldn’t knit this longer. The light yarn keeps it from being bulky, and I frankly like the combined minimalism and potential stripédness.
Liner Notes 2 isn’t live yet, mainly because I need to check the gauge, but it should be soon, because virtually all I have left to do to check the gauge, and that shouldn’t be a source of procrastination, right? Right?
