new cowl: Tango

The trouble with a cowl like this is that it looks so different depending on how you wear it, just depending on how it falls and which side you choose to treat as the front, that I either have to settle for a photo that only illustrates a little of it, or I have to do a collage, or I have to choose 5 photos and hope you’ll just have a look through them if you’re interested. I suppose that last one is a pretty decent option, though.

This was an oddly frustrating sample for me, because I simply ran out of time for it, and didn’t get to relax into it as a knitting project for the most part, even when the pattern was finished and I was just adding a final repeat. I was knitting as fast as I could, and while I did have a little of bit of the fun knitting project experience at certain points, I also ended up with more injury-adjacent bad feelings in my elbows from the speed knitting than I have from any of the much more intense-seeming workouts/disciplines/passtimes I’ve been pursuing. (I am, uh, studying the blade. I mean not really. Or at least I plan to be pretty vague about it, probably even after my plans come together; would be pretty funny to have a kind of secret aside that only a handful of people would really be in the know about. The blog might have to become more interesting for that, though. I am not sure how much overlap there would be between this and knitting, but regardless of whether there is, an interesting blog would sure help.)

Anyway, despite all that and the fact that some of it was barely over a week ago, if that, I am feeling less discouraged/physically pathetic (not by knitting!) now and have a Summer Kitchen pattern ready to go. They might all be pretty simple this year (look at the previous one and see if you can guess if the ultimate goal is a series, and if so, how many projects there’ll be), because I’m feeling pretty strongly geared towards more complex or lengthier patterns (shawls and garments), and that doesn’t leave a lot of time for a really interesting kitchen series.

But it’s kind of nice to have something small, light, and cool to work on, even though I am absolutely past any need for more kitchen textiles at the moment. Frankly, it’s starting to get weird. How close do you need to be before it stops being weird to give someone dishcloths? How many more can my friends and family absorb?
